The Recording Club
Platinum Membership · Prepared for James Tyler Guitars

The players carried the name out of a Reseda repair shop.
We built a whole club on that idea.

James Tyler opened the shop in 1980 and fixed guitars for the LA session players who kept showing up. The company grew by word of mouth inside that room for twenty years: Michael Landau, Dann Huff and Neil Stubenhaus played the instruments on records, and that is how everyone else found out. The Recording Club runs on the same belief: gear belongs in rooms, in sessions, in hands. Platinum puts James Tyler Guitars inside the building, and the four doors below are already built and live. Click anything.

The James Tyler Guitars build

The studio floor, forty-six years later

What worked in Reseda works here: the guitar in a working player's hands on a paid date. Four things Platinum builds for James Tyler Guitars, all included in the membership.

The main tracking room at The Recording Club
In the rooms

Studio Elites on the tracking room wall

Your guitars hang in the main tracking room, where LA session guitarists record every day. They are the same constituency that built the company, and they pick up what is on the wall. Every session is a demo, and every record is a Tyler on somebody else's album again.

Featured, then followed up

We print a Tyler look book of the finishes and it lives in the lounge. A player finishes a session, asks what the burning-water one was, and staff hand them the book and send them to San Fernando.

Four screens from the James Tyler owners app concept
Built in-house

An owners app for Tyler players

Owners register a serial and get the build sheet: body wood, finish name, pickup set, ship date. Artists carry verified rigs. New builds land in one feed. The screen-by-screen vision is live in the app board. We shipped this exact app for Darryl Jones's bass owners; yours follows the same build plan.

Engineers at the console at The Recording Club
On the stage

A home base in Santa Monica

Down the 405 from Fourth Street. A Google Maps pin at the club's address, your endorsers hosted for sessions in our rooms, demo and artist content shot on the 5-camera stage. Tyler works out of the club like it is a second shop.

The list is not fixed. Platinum means the club's design and engineering team works for James Tyler Guitars. Sites and apps are designed and built at no cost, then maintained at $70 an hour, half our public rate. You build one guitar at a time, by hand, to order. Tell us what you need and we hold the build to the same standard.

The vision · live and clickable

A vision for the new tylerguitars.com

This is what Platinum's build team sees for Tyler on the web, built as a working concept from your own catalog: 65 pages, every model, every finish, every clip, live right now. It says Sarah Tyler builds the guitars, in the present tense, on the first screen. Click anything below and walk through it.

Yours on day one. Join Platinum and the site, the brand book and the app ship on tylerguitars.com under your own domain, included in the membership.

Proof

We already did this for the Rolling Stones’ bassist

Darryl Jones, bassist for the Rolling Stones, joined Platinum. The club rebuilt his company's website, shipped an iPhone app for the players who own his basses, and designed the wall where his basses will sell in the building. All of it included in his membership. Read the full case study.

The club itself

And the studio is still the studio

Everything above sits on top of the core of Platinum: the best rooms in the building, whenever you want them. See them all at therecording.club/studios.
